📖 Details

In October 2023, a unique commercial facility opened in Shinjuku's Kabukicho. The building, which spans from the basement level to the fourth floor, is themed around the Edo period and allows visitors to experience Japanese culture through "clothing, food, and theater." The biggest highlight is the "Kabukicho Theater" located in the basement. The theater is equipped with the latest technology, including a large LED screen, and is themed around "enjoying traditional performing arts in a relaxed manner." The performances are divided into two categories: drama and dance, featuring spectacular shows by actors dressed in gorgeous traditional Japanese attire. During breaks in the public drama performances, there are also shows of Japanese dance and rakugo. It is a great place to deeply experience traditional Japanese performing arts. Inside the facility, there are many distinctive dining options. There are hall-style restaurants offering popular Japanese dishes such as sushi, tempura, soba, and eel, which have been loved by the public since the Edo period. Additionally, there is a charcoal BBQ terrace that allows for enjoyable grilling even in the rain under a canopy, as well as a retro stylish café featuring a large amount of stained glass, providing a fresh Showa-style experience. Furthermore, the clothing rental shop offers dressing and hairstyling services, along with a variety of kimono and stage-style costumes for rent. Changing into a kimono to watch a performance at the theater or to dine at the restaurant further immerses visitors in rich Japanese culture.
