The Higashiyama Sky Tower is an observation tower located within the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya. It was built in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the city's establishment. The tower stands at a height of 134 meters, but since it is built on an 80-meter high hill, its elevation is 214 meters. The observation deck is situated at a height of 100 meters above ground (180 meters above sea level), allowing visitors to enjoy views of the JR Central Towers, Chubu Electric MIRAI TOWER (Nagoya TV Tower), Vantelin Dome Nagoya (Nagoya Dome), and other cityscapes. On clear days, it is also possible to appreciate the mountainous scenery of Mt. Ontake and the Suzuka Mountains. Due to the absence of other tall buildings in the vicinity, the tower offers beautiful night views, which is one of its features. It has been recognized as a "Japanese Night View Heritage" and one of the "Top 100 Night Views," making it one of the few prominent observation spots in the country.
