📖 Details
The event held from May 3rd to 5th each year takes place mainly around the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Heiwa-dori. Since its first edition in Showa 52 (1977), it has attracted over 1.6 million visitors annually, making it one of Japan's representative events and widely loved by the citizens.
On the first day of the event (May 3rd), there is a "Sogo Hanamatsuri Parade" on Heiwa-dori, featuring about 8,000 participants dressed in floral costumes presenting flower-themed performances. On the final day (May 5th), "KINSAI YOSAKOI" is held on the Carnation Stage at Heiwa-dori and the Peace Memorial Park, with around 90 groups and 5,000 people delivering spectacular song and dance performances. Additionally, various song and dance performances are showcased on approximately 30 stages throughout the venue.
A symbol of the event is the 8-meter tall "Hana Tower" set up in the Peace Memorial Park, adorned with carnations and morning glories. The venue also displays origami crane decorations, along with fresh flowers planted by schools and facilities in the city and nearby areas, creating a serene atmosphere of peace. There are over a hundred food stalls on both sides of Heiwa-dori, so feel free to take a stroll and check them out.
