About Ichihara Zō no Kuni (Ichihara Land of Elephants)
You can watch elephant performances and experience feeding elephants at the animal-themed park.
Details
Ichihara Elephant Kingdom (Ichihara Daioh Kuni) is the animal theme park in Japan with the largest number of elephants. In addition to elephants, it is home to animals such as capybaras and hippos. The park features an area called "Elephant Splash," where visitors can watch elephants play in the water; "Elephant Village," where guests can feed snacks to the elephants; and "Elephant Square," which hosts daily elephant performances, all designed specifically for elephants. Additionally, there are many interactive experiences available, including "Elephant Rider," where you can sit on an elephant's back, and "Elephant Elevator," where you can take photos with elephants.
Aside from elephants, in the "Cape no Mori" area, you can see the sika deer named Cape, who was originally wild but was rescued by Ichihara Elephant Kingdom after getting lost. In the "Cat Island" and "Capybara Plaza" areas, you can interact closely with gentle animals like kittens and capybaras.
On March 23, 2021, the Elephant Kingdom merged with the neighboring sister park "Koyuri World" and reopened under the name "ANIMAL WONDER RESORT." Visitors can have close encounters with 70 species and 400 mammals and birds living in the park.
Highlights
You can encounter various expressions of elephants all at once. After buying a snack bucket at the zoo's gift shop, you can use it to feed the animals. There is a food area where you can taste authentic Thai cuisine, and there are several small attractions in the zoo that allow you to experience the essence of the elephants' homeland—Thailand. The zoo shop sells various elephant-related toys and Thai goods.
