📖 Details
Located in Ota Ward, Ikegami Plum Garden is near "Ikegami Honmonji" and is famous for its district flower—the plum blossom. Situated on hilly terrain, the garden features over 30 varieties of plum blossoms, which release their fragrant aromas in shades of red and white, heralding the arrival of spring.
Early-blooming varieties begin to blossom in late January, with the best viewing period for the overall garden occurring from late February to early March. Different varieties of plum blossoms bloom across the slopes, creating a stunning landscape that follows the elevation changes of the hills. The garden includes two tea rooms built in the sukiya style, a Japanese room facing a pond, and a water koto, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the tranquil atmosphere while enjoying the plum blossoms during a leisurely stroll. Additionally, there are limited-time nighttime illumination events where visitors can admire the dreamlike scenery of the plum blossoms.
Besides plum blossoms, the garden is also worth visiting for cherry blossoms in April and hydrangeas in June. Notably, around 800 azaleas in red, white, and pink bloom throughout the garden, making it a hidden gem for flower viewing that is quietly cherished by many. The blooming period lasts from mid-April to mid-May, which is relatively long, adding to its charm. A chrysanthemum exhibition is held from late October to mid-November, providing another opportunity to enjoy flowers in the autumn season.
