About Yūzen's Light Forest (Kimono Forest)
Transform Kyoto Yuzen into an artistic space resembling a bamboo forest, highly photogenic.
Details
The Yūzen Forest, also known as the Kimono Forest, is located at a corner of "Arashiyama Station Hannari Hokkori Square." The square features 600 colorful columns adorned with Kyoto Yūzen patterns. These columns are arranged throughout the square, on the station platform, and along the railway tracks, making the entire Arashiyama Station look like a work of art. The area also includes dining establishments, souvenir shops, and a foot bath (250 yen), making it a great place for tourists to relax.
The Yūzen Forest was designed by the renowned Japanese interior designer Morita Yasumichi. It features Kyoto Yūzen created by the long-established Kameida Tomisen Factory, which has been in operation since the Taisho era, wrapped around acrylic columns arranged like a forest path. There are a total of 32 different patterns, and many visitors enjoy walking or taking photos while searching for their favorite designs, creating a lively atmosphere.
After passing through the "Kimono Path," lined with vibrant columns, visitors are greeted by the famous energy spot "Ryū no Atago Pond." It is said that simply dipping your hands into the pond can bring a sense of inner peace and happiness.
Every day after sunset until 9 PM, the LED lights embedded in the columns are illuminated. Under the soft glow, the Kyoto Yūzen enjoys a dreamlike atmosphere that is completely different from the daytime.
Highlights
