About Irahama Cape Lighthouse

Standing at the southernmost tip of Aichi Prefecture, a beautiful lighthouse that guards maritime safety.

Details

Standing at the southernmost tip of Aichi Prefecture, the beautiful lighthouse at Irago Cape has been safeguarding maritime safety since its inauguration in 1929. The stunning contrast between the azure sea and the white lighthouse has earned it a spot among the "Top 50 Lighthouses in Japan." The sunset, when the sea surface turns a reddish hue, is particularly romantic and enchanting. The lighthouse and the Love Road Beach on the eastern side of Irago are popular dating spots listed as "Sacred Places for Lovers." On clear days, you can enjoy a distant view of "Kushima," the backdrop of Yukio Mishima's novel "The Sound of Waves," and Toba in Mie Prefecture. There are walking trails around Irago Cape where you can stroll while admiring the breathtaking views of Ise Bay and Mikawa Bay. Additionally, there are several dining establishments near the parking lot where you can savor local seafood dishes, including the famous "ocean melon seeds." You can take a bus from Toyohashi Railway Mikawa-Tahara Station to reach Irago Cape, or if you're departing from Toba Port in Mie Prefecture, you can take a sightseeing boat.
