The Ishinomori Manga Museum showcases the works and manuscripts of Shotaro Ishinomori (1938-1998), the creator of legendary masterpieces such as "Cyborg 009" and "Kamen Rider." It is a three-story building. Although it was damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake, it reopened 1 year and 8 months after the disaster.
Shotaro Ishinomori was born in Tome City, near Ishinomaki City in Miyagi Prefecture, and frequently visited the cinema in Ishinomaki during his student days. In 2011, he built the Ishinomori Manga Museum in Ishinomaki, filled with memories. The museum not only features regular exhibitions but also frequently hosts special exhibitions by other manga artists, as well as a multimedia workshop where animation can be created, allowing visitors to explore the possibilities of manga from various perspectives.
The road connecting Ishinomaki Station to the Ishinomori Manga Museum, known as the "Ishinomaki Manga Road," is about 1 kilometer long and is lined with anime memorials from "Cyborg 009" and "Kamen Rider," making it a must-visit spot for anime fans.
