Atsuta Jingu is affectionately known as "Atsuta-sensei" by locals, and the popular tea house, Joai, is conveniently located next to the west exit of Meitetsu Jingu-mae Station, which is on the way to Atsuta Jingu. Established in Showa 10 (1935), the long-standing traditional wagashi shop "Kiyome Mochi Sohonke" has been in operation for nearly 90 years. The retro atmosphere of the store is always bustling with locals and worshippers. The signature product is the "Kiyome Mochi," praised as "Kiyome Mochi of Atsuta Shrine" or "Nagoya Souvenir Kiyome Mochi." The pure white habutae mochi is filled with a carefully cooked homemade red bean paste, offering an elegant sweetness and a soft texture that is unforgettable. Most visitors enjoy it with matcha after visiting Atsuta Jingu, or take it home as a souvenir. In addition, there are other dessert items like anmitsu and red bean toast, which use the shop's signature red bean paste, as well as meals like curry rice, sandwiches, and daily changing lunch specials, making it a great place to relax and dine before or after visiting Atsuta Jingu.
