About Butler Café Swallowtail
Experience the elegant atmosphere of a butler café, where you can enjoy refined service in a sophisticated and dignified setting.
Details
Opened in Ikebukuro in 2006, it is the world's first butler café. Descending the stairs to the basement of the building, guests are welcomed by several butlers dressed in tailcoats, each with a different style, in a spacious Western-style mansion.
The giant chandelier on the ceiling casts a warm light over the classically styled tables and chairs, creating an elegant and solemn atmosphere. From the moment the grand door opens to greet customers, the butlers, referred to as "male servants," receive the "young ladies" and "young masters" in a friendly and graceful manner.
During afternoon tea, guests enjoy a variety of exquisite teas served in carefully selected cups by the butlers, along with handmade cakes from the pastry chef. Some of the teas are specially blended by the butlers, enticing guests to return multiple times. The dinner service also offers authentic set meals.
Reservations are required in advance online to dine at the café. If there are cancellations or available spots, walk-ins without a reservation may be accommodated. Additionally, photography, smartphone use, and smoking are prohibited inside the café. Both lunch and dinner have limited dining times, so it is recommended to check the official website for related guidelines before visiting.
