📖 Details
The善國寺 (Zenguo Temple), which enshrines 毘沙門天 (Bishamonten), is located in the once-flourishing 花街 (Hanamachi) of 神楽坂 (Kagurazaka). The former geisha house from the Hanamachi era has been transformed into a standalone kaiseki restaurant called 神楽坂 夢二 (Kagurazaka Yumeji), quietly standing in this charming alley.
The restaurant's name is derived from the representative Taisho-era painter 竹久夢二 (Takehisa Yumeji). Inside, you will find beautiful paintings of women by Yumeji, as well as stained glass lighting and carpets that reflect the Taisho era's style, creating a romantic and aesthetic atmosphere.
The cuisine features ingredients carefully selected by the owner each morning at the market from various regions of Japan. They offer kaiseki set menus that embody the essence of the four seasons, with meticulous attention to detail in every aspect, including the tableware and presentation. A sommelier is on hand to recommend suitable pairings of sake, wine, and shochu.
The first floor of the restaurant has open seating, while the second floor offers multiple private rooms of various sizes, accommodating 2 to 10 diners. Each private room features different wall glass and ceiling decorations, as well as various types of seating, including sofa seats and sunken kotatsu tables.
