⛩️ Kanemochi Shrine
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
A shrine that attracts worshippers from all over the country to pray for great wealth.
📖 Details
Kanehold Shrine is the only shrine in the country named for its auspicious meaning of bringing wealth. It enshrines the gods responsible for land management, fortune, and nation-building: "Tenkōritsu no Mikoto," "Yatsukamizu no Oshi no Mikoto," and "Omito no Mikoto."
"Kanehold" means "wealthy" in Japanese, and thus, Kanehold Shrine has long been associated with legends of good fortune and wealth. Many lottery enthusiasts and business owners come to pray for financial blessings and prosperous businesses. It sells lucky items such as "yellow handkerchiefs," "ten-thousand yen note fans," and "lucky wallets." The yellow handkerchief is the most popular lucky charm. The shrine's shop also offers purification and burning services for old wallets that have served their purpose.
Within the shrine's grounds, there are designated "Tottori Prefecture's Selected Hundred Famous Trees," including "Hanabaka" and "Kōchū," both of which are over 600 to 700 years old. Among them, the Kōchū is particularly rare, being the only precious tree of the Fraxinus family in Tottori Prefecture, believed to have been introduced from China for medicinal purposes.
Additionally, the worship hall displays precious Japanese paintings collected by artists Tamaki Hamada and Mitsuko Saegusa, which are also worth viewing.
