📖 Details

Kushiro Fisherman's Wharf MOO is a complex commercial facility located adjacent to the Biei Bridge, which spans the mouth of the Kushiro River. MOO is an abbreviation for "Marine Our Oasis" and is well-known as a symbolic building of the harbor area. Inside, there are souvenir shops offering seafood, Japanese sweets, and more, as well as a tourist information center and numerous izakayas in a street vendor style known as "Harbor Street Stalls." Additionally, the "MOO Wharf Grill," which operates only in the summer, is quite popular. The building is a newly constructed structure designed by architect Kōki Mō from Kushiro. Its exterior features designs inspired by the natural beauty of Kushiro, including the red-crowned cranes by the Kushiro River, the mountains of Akan National Park, and ship masts. Furthermore, on the side with the bus lane, there are design elements inspired by Kushiro's industries, such as a coal conveyor belt and oil tanks.
