🗺️ Leilei Gorge磊々峡（らいらいきょう）

The canyon formed by the erosion of the Natori River flowing from Kamurodake in the Ōu Mountains. In 1931, it was named "Reireikyo" by Toyotaka Komiya, a disciple of Natsume Sōseki and an honorary professor at Tohoku University, using the character "磊" which describes stacked stones. Nearby is the famous Akiu Onsen, a representative hot spring in Tohoku, which is a tourist spot where visitors can easily enjoy forest bathing and the beautiful autumn foliage, attracting many tourists. The canyon stretches for 2 kilometers, with a 650-meter-long pathway set up for visitors. Along the way, there are many scenic spots worth seeing, including the heart-shaped hollow rock known as "Lover's Sanctuary" and the "Tenkai Rock," which looks as if it has been split in half by an axe, as well as the "Kimenkan," which resembles a human face. This area boasts captivating scenery that changes with the seasons: the beauty of fresh greenery in spring, the coolness of the flowing Natori River in summer, and the grandeur of the giant rocks in winter. The most beautiful sight is undoubtedly the autumn foliage. The brilliantly colored leaves, resembling brocade, adorn the canyon, creating a breathtaking landscape. During the autumn foliage season, there are nighttime illuminations that showcase the canyon's beauty in a different light than during the day.

The beautiful canyon formed by the erosion of the Natori River features a continuous series of giant rock formations. Along the approximately 650-meter trail, there are many scenic spots such as "Tianfu Rock" and "Qimian Yan." Known for its stunning autumn foliage, the area attracts numerous tourists during the fall season.
