📝 Introduction
In the winter, the Meguro River blooms with a soft pink glow.
📖 Details
The "Meguro River MINNA no ILLUMI" (目黒川みんなのイルミネーション) is a lighting event held along the Meguro River starting in early November each year. The lighting venue is set at the famous cherry blossom viewing spots "Meguro River" and "Gotanda Exchange Waterfront Plaza," decorated with 350,000 LED lights in cherry blossom colors, allowing visitors to enjoy a beautiful scene reminiscent of cherry blossom viewing in winter. The riverside glows with a pink cherry blossom hue, and the river surface reflects the soft light, creating a romantic landscape affectionately nicknamed "Winter Cherry Blossoms®."
The power source for the event is biodiesel made from recycled cooking oil used by local restaurants and households. Generators are set up at the venue to power the illumination, making it an environmentally friendly event. It achieves a 100% energy model sourced from local recycled cooking oil through "recycling, regeneration, and utilization."
Additionally, the "Winter Cherry Blossoms® Viewing Spot" event is also launched at the Gotanda Exchange Waterfront Plaza. A leisurely 10-minute walk along the riverside illuminated with cherry blossom lights is recommended, so be sure to dress warmly before heading out to enjoy the "cherry blossoms."
