๐Ÿ“ Introduction

In Miyama Town, where many traditional thatched-roof houses are preserved, you can experience the daily life of the countryside.

๐Ÿ“– Details

Thatched houses are not unique to Japan; this architectural style can also be found in Europe and Scandinavia. In recent years, thatched houses have become a trend and fashion worldwide, although the styles vary slightly by country and region. "Miyama Thatched Village" is located in Miyama Town, Kyoto, and is home to 39 thatched houses. The characteristic of the thatched houses in Miyama Town is their gentle, curved lines and beautifully balanced structures that extend to the edges. In this area, the thatched roofs must undergo a "thatching replacement" renovation every 20 years. Through this experiential activity, which embodies the wisdom and aesthetic consciousness of the people, one can personally experience the daily life of the rural mountains.
