📖 Details

Mount Ibuki, with an elevation of 1,377 meters, is the highest mountain in Shiga Prefecture and is also one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. The name "Ibuki" has appeared in historical texts such as the "Kojiki" and "Nihon Shoki," and is featured in the legends of Yamato Takeru, making it a well-known mountain with a long history. From the summit, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Biwa, making it a popular tourist destination. Despite its considerable height, visitors can reach the parking lot at the 9th station directly by car, mountain bus, or taxi from the "Ibuki Mountain Wind Road." Even beginners can relatively easily experience the hiking trail to the summit. At the top, there is a natural garden designated as a national natural monument, where various flowers bloom from spring to autumn. Additionally, from the Ibuki Mountain Sky Terrace, visitors can enjoy magnificent views stretching from Lake Biwa in the west to Mount Ontake in the east.
