About Musashi-Koyama Onsen Shimizuyu
Founded in 1923 (Taisho 12), this public bathhouse offers two types of natural hot springs: the black water and the golden water.
Details
Musashi-Koyama Onsen Shimizuyu is a long-established sento (public bath) founded in 1923 (Taisho 12). It features two types of natural flowing hot springs: black water and golden water. It is beloved by the local community for offering the enjoyment of both types of natural hot springs at a sento price (around 500 yen).
The amber-colored black water, which springs from 200 meters underground, is known for being one of the most refined and clear amber-colored hot springs among the many black waters in Tokyo. It has high moisturizing and heat-retaining properties, making it a well-known beauty spa.
Additionally, the golden water, which emerges from 1500 meters deep, is rich in iodine, effectively improving cuts and abrasions, and is recognized as a therapeutic hot spring. Alternating between the two types of hot springs is said to enhance the therapeutic effects of the bath.
In addition to the outdoor bath, there is also a rock bath (for women only), and the second floor features a free relaxation area where guests can enjoy a moment of relaxation after bathing.
