🎎 Nishi Awa Fireworks Festival

📝 Introduction

The fireworks competition held in the tourism area of Tokushima, "Nishi-Awa."

📖 Details

The Western Tokushima Health and Disaster Prevention Park is located on the border of Kagawa Prefecture, in the cities of Mima and Miyoshi, through which the Yoshino River flows. Every autumn, it hosts a fireworks competition. Unlike typical fireworks festivals, the Nishi-Awa Fireworks is a competitive event that showcases fireworks techniques, making the effects and designs distinctly different from traditional fireworks displays. Top fireworks artisans from all over Japan gather in Tokushima to demonstrate various launching techniques, new fireworks charms, competition fireworks balls (shakudama), and synchronized music displays, creating artistic masterpieces. The highlight of the event is the shakudama presented by the winner of the "Prime Minister's Award" and top fireworks artisans. Additionally, there are diverse performances, including music-synchronized fireworks that are precisely timed to 1/30 of a second and span up to 330 meters wide, as well as message fireworks, adding brilliant colors to the autumn landscape of the mid-Yoshino River area. There are no free viewing areas, and tickets for designated seating in the entire area must be purchased to watch the fireworks. It is expected that transportation will be very congested on the day of the event, so it is recommended to walk from the station. Furthermore, the event location "Nishi-Awa" is a renowned tourist destination representing Tokushima Prefecture. It is worth visiting "Nishi-Awa" to experience a blend of nature, culture, and cuisine, and enjoy various entertainment options.
