🎨 Restaurant Gallery
📝 Introduction
Enjoy kaiseki cuisine amidst the diverse charm of Taisho architecture, while appreciating the Japanese garden crafted by a master.
📖 Details
A kaiseki restaurant transformed from a traditional Japanese residence built in Taisho 4 (1915). Located along the approach to Nanzen-ji Temple, it offers a tranquil atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city, allowing guests to enjoy a leisurely and relaxing moment.
Utilizing seasonal ingredients unique to Kyoto, the restaurant incorporates new sensibilities within existing traditions to create kyo-ryori that can be "tasted with all five senses." The most popular lunch option is the "Lunch Kaiseki Set," which allows diners to savor the exquisite, silky texture of the premium yudofu (hot tofu) along with kaiseki dishes. Dinner is served entirely in private rooms, making it the perfect choice for celebrating birthdays or anniversaries without concern for other diners.
Sakurazukuen is a beautiful pond garden designed by the modern landscape master, the seventh generation of the "Ueji" school, Ogawa Jibei. Covering approximately 1,200 tsubo, it features a scenic view of Higashiyama. Not open to the public on regular days, only diners can enjoy the pleasure of dining and strolling amidst the changing scenery of the four seasons.
