Enjoy an ultimate detox experience in the world's rare sand steam bath.
Details
"Sunamushi" is a unique bathing method that involves burying the body in hot sand heated by naturally occurring hot springs along the coast. This traditional bathing practice has a history of over 300 years and is cherished by the local people as a Japanese-style sauna.
The usage is quite simple: first, pay at the counter and change into a yukata, then move to the all-weather sunamushi area on the coast. Following the staff's instructions, lie back in the designated spot, and the staff will cover you with warm sand over your yukata. The sand can reach temperatures of about 55 degrees Celsius, and within just 10 minutes, you will be sweating profusely, thoroughly expelling toxins from your body. Listening to the elegant sound of the waves in an incredibly relaxing environment, you can believe that even your mind can detoxify.
After the sunamushi session, rinse off the sand with a shower, and then enjoy a soothing soak in the hot spring facilities. Here, you can experience this rare bathing method in the world and enjoy the refreshing feeling after a good sweat.
