🍜 Sandaime Taimeiken (三代目 たいめいけん)

📝 Introduction

Enjoy the taste of a good old Western-style restaurant in your own way.

📖 Details

Taimin-ken is a long-established Western restaurant that was founded in the 6th year of the Showa era (1931). In response to the redevelopment of the Nihonbashi area, the restaurant has moved from Shinkawa to Nihonbashi Muromachi. After two and a half years, the new location will be completed in February 2024. The restaurant spans two floors; the first floor allows guests to easily enjoy the dishes from the established Western restaurant, while the second floor offers a more refined atmosphere for savoring high-end, traditional Western cuisine. The signature dish is the "Dandelion Omelette Rice (Itami Juzo-style)," conceived by filmmaker Itami Juzo, which also appeared in the movie "Dandelion." When a knife is inserted into the chicken rice topped with a wobbly omelette, the semi-solid egg flows out. The side dishes, "Borscht" and "Coleslaw," are still priced at 50 yen, the same as when the restaurant first opened, and they remain specialties of the third generation of Taimin-ken. In addition to traditional Western cuisine on the second floor, a selection of "small dish cuisine" unique to the third generation of Taimin-ken is also offered, allowing diners to enjoy a variety of dishes at once, which is one of its charms.

⭐ Highlights

The first floor has a casual style, while the second floor offers traditional Western cuisine. The signature dish "Dandelion Omurice (Itami Jūsaku style)" is also a beautiful masterpiece. The well-known "Borscht" and "Cold Dressed Cabbage" are offered at the same prices as when the restaurant first opened. The third-generation Tai Meikan’s traditional "Small Plate Dishes" were said to be created in response to requests from regular customers.
