🍜 SARASA Nishijin
🎨 Restaurant Gallery
📝 Introduction
A café transformed from an 80-year-old public bathhouse.
📖 Details
The second branch of the café "SARASA," which has six locations in Kyoto, is located in a building that was formerly a public bath (until 1998) called Fujimori Onsen. It was renovated to showcase the original features of the building and reopened in 2000. The entire space reflects the charm of the Nishijin streets of Kyoto.
Inside, the bathtub is submerged beneath the floor, creating a spacious environment that retains elements from the public bath era, such as the walls that separate the men's and women's baths. Traces of its past can be seen throughout. The walls are adorned with a dense array of tiles known as "Japanese Maiolica tiles," featuring an antique design with embossed patterns. Each tile, with its unique colors and shapes, is quite charming and invites close inspection.
The menu, rich in variety, is also highly praised. It offers desserts made by sister stores and freshly roasted coffee, suitable for various times and purposes, ensuring that no matter how many times you visit, you won't get tired of it. Occasionally, live music performances are held in the evening, allowing guests to enjoy their meals or drinks while being immersed in beautiful music.
