About Shiba Park (芝公園)
A historic park located next to Tokyo Tower.
Details
Shiba Park, established in 1873, is said to be Japan's oldest park. The park is located between Zojo-ji (増上寺) and Shiba Tōshō-gū (芝東照宮), and a major feature is the ability to view and photograph the nearby Tokyo Tower from various angles within the park. The area is home to towering trees such as camphor, zelkova, and ginkgo, as well as ancient burial mounds that evoke a sense of the park's long history. In spring, about 70 plum trees and over 200 cherry blossoms attract flower watchers, while in autumn, visitors can enjoy the beautiful maple leaf scenery in the artificial valley known as "Momiji-dani" (紅葉谷).
