About Soshigaya Park (祖師谷公園)
A comfortable space along the Senkawa River! A quiet nature park.
Details
Zushi Valley Park is located in a quiet residential area of Setagaya Ward in Tokyo, with the Senkawa River flowing through the center of the park, dividing it into eastern and western sections. The western hillside of Senkawa hosts a spacious grassy area and playground, with surrounding walking paths that many people use for running and exercising.
On the eastern side, there is a spring water pool and a waterside terrace where visitors can enjoy the view of the Senkawa River, along with sports facilities such as tennis courts, croquet courts, and children's play areas.
Along the riverside path of Senkawa, there are rows of cherry blossom trees that attract large crowds during the annual "Sakura Festival" every spring, creating a lively atmosphere. Notably, the cherry trees on the western side of Senkawa were gifted to Washington State by the Mayor of Tokyo in 1912 and later, seedlings from the cherry trees planted in Potomac Park were returned to Tokyo, which is why they are also referred to as "Kurashio no Sakura" (帰郷の桜).
Highlights
The Xianchuan River flows through the center and features a park with a spacious square. In addition to the play area and grassy open spaces, it also has facilities such as a spring water pool and a waterside terrace for experiencing nature. In spring, you can stroll along the Cherry Blossom Path (櫻花路, Sakura Road) by the riverbank.
