🗺️ TOTO Museum

📝 Introduction

A museum dedicated to the inventors of the WASHLET (bidet toilet) and bathroom manufacturers! The history of Japanese toilets is all here.

📖 Details

The largest bathroom manufacturer in Japan, TOTO, known for producing commonly seen products such as warm water bidets and washbasins, opened a museum in 2015 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2017. The museum is divided into four exhibition rooms, where visitors can explore the culture and history of the company's kitchen and bathroom equipment from its establishment to the present, as well as its product manufacturing philosophy, and the evolution of everyday items like the (※1) WASHLET (bidet toilet), bathrooms, and kitchens. It also showcases replicas of Japan's first packaged bathroom (according to JIS standards), as well as restrooms installed in the National Diet Building and the Akasaka Palace State Guesthouse. ※WASHLET (bidet toilet) is a registered trademark of TOTO Ltd. The shop features a variety of museum-exclusive products. Unique items include the "Super Mini Toilet," TOTO museum original small goods, the "NEOREST-shaped soap" developed in collaboration with local businesses, and the edible (surprisingly) toilet-shaped chocolate "Toilet Chocola" (available for a limited time). These could be a great addition to your souvenir shopping list.
