Relax and heal in the famous hot springs that emerge by the mysterious Lake Toya.

📖 Details

Lake Toya Onsen was formed during the Meiji era due to the eruption of the volcano "Yoshida-yama." It boasts a rich supply of hot spring water and has the highest number of hotels and inns in Hokkaido. Currently, it attracts over 3 million tourists each year, becoming a representative hot spring destination in Hokkaido. From the guest rooms and outdoor baths, visitors can enjoy the stunning views of the dreamlike Lake Toya, which changes with the seasons, and the beautiful Mount Yotei, known as Ezo Fuji, while indulging in the pleasures of soaking in the hot springs. The hot spring town features several free foot baths and hand baths, allowing visitors to easily enjoy sodium chloride and calcium chloride hot springs, which are said to help improve symptoms of cold hands and feet or dry skin. A walking path has been developed along the lakeshore, where visitors can leisurely stroll while enjoying the hand and foot baths. Various events are held throughout the year, including the "Lake Toya Long-Distance Running Fireworks Festival," which takes place over an extended period from late April to October. Every day from 20:45 to 21:05, a spectacular display of large fireworks is launched over Lake Toya, providing a visual feast for guests staying in the area.
