📜 Content

Yanmar Company is one of Japan's largest agricultural and heavy machinery manufacturers. In 2013, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Yanmar's founding, the Yanmar Museum was established in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, the birthplace of the founder. In 2019, the museum was renovated into an interactive experience museum with the theme "Challenging the Exciting Future World!" where visitors can operate machines and engage in hands-on activities. Inside the museum, the "Story Theater" introduces the spirit of challenge and life journey of the company's founder, Mr. Sonkichi Yamaoka. Mr. Yamaoka was the first person in the world to successfully miniaturize a diesel engine. The museum's biggest feature is that visitors can interact with actual Yanmar machines and operate simulation devices of Yanmar products. For example, visitors can operate a mini excavator to play a ball-catching game or simulate a boat ride to experience thrilling maritime navigation activities, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. The museum also features an exhibition area that tells the history of Yanmar, a habitat area for observing the growth of plants and animals, and a cooking classroom where visitors can learn to cook in a game-like manner, among many other attractions. Additionally, the museum includes wellness facilities, a restaurant called "Premium Marche BIWAKO" where visitors can taste local rice, a foot bath called "Oniyanma no Yu" heated by engines from the museum, and a 360-degree observation deck named "Oniyanma Observation Deck."
