"Ajari Mochi Honpo Mantetsu" is a beloved old shop favored by locals. The "Ajari Mochi" was developed by the second-generation store manager and launched in 1922 during the Taisho era as a famous confectionery from Kyoto. The secret outer skin is made from glutinous rice flour, eggs, and sugar, shaped like the woven hat worn by high monks (Kōjari) of Mount Hiei, and filled with sweet red bean paste made from Tanba Dainagon beans.
