About Ao no Yu (Noboribetsu Onsen)
Like a boiling cauldron, it is one of the sources of "Noboribetsu Onsen."
Details
There are various types of spring water gushing out, making it one of the sources of Noboribetsu Onsen. It is part of the volcanic crater remnants of the active volcano, Mt. Hiyori, where gray-black sulfur springs erupt from a conical marsh called "FUKI."
The surface temperature of the marsh reaches as high as 75°C to 85°C, and the bubbling sulfur springs give the area the appearance of a boiling cauldron. The intense eruptions at the front and near the center of the marsh are particularly noteworthy. The area is enveloped in steam and a strong sulfur smell, making it a spot where one can fully enjoy the atmosphere of the hot springs.
It can be reached by walking from Hell Valley (Jigokudani) and Oyunuma, and there are nearby walking trails where visitors can stroll while enjoying the natural beauty and forest bathing.
