The museum located in Misawa City, known for its aviation facilities.
📖 Details
The Aomori Prefectural Misawa Aviation Science Museum is located in Misawa City, where Misawa Airport is situated. Misawa Airport is the only aviation operational base in Japan jointly used by the U.S. military and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, as well as serving as a civil aviation airport. The Aomori Prefectural Misawa Aviation Science Museum was built as a symbol of Misawa City, which is closely related to aviation, and is a museum themed around aerospace and science.
Inside the museum, there are many tangible aircraft and replicas that stimulate curiosity, including a replica of the Miss Veedol, the first aircraft to fly non-stop from Japan to the United States across the Pacific, and a replica of the Wright Flyer manufactured by the Wright brothers. Starting in 2021, a physical HondaJet, a small business jet developed by Honda, was also added. Additionally, there are experience facilities such as flight simulators and simulated space exploration, ensuring that both adults and children can have fun.
Furthermore, the outdoor "Misawa City Sky Plaza" displays military and transport aircraft. Most of these are actual aircraft borrowed from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Air Force. Depending on the visiting time, some aircraft will also offer boarding and cabin tour experiences. It is recommended to check the official website before visiting.
⭐ Highlights
You can see everything from modern aircraft to older planes here. Not only can you visit, but you can also participate in various interesting experiential activities. The outdoor plaza features displays of fighter jets that have performed flight demonstrations in the skies across Japan.
