About Asama Mountain Park (Fuchu City)
A natural park surrounding the 80-meter high Shallow Between Mountain.
Details
Asama Mountain is a small hill left behind after the erosion and cutting of the old Tama River and other rivers on the Tama Plateau. It features three peaks: Dōyama, Nakayama, and Maeyama, with an elevation of 80 meters, and has been developed into a natural park filled with broadleaf forests. The park is home to several shrines, including Asama Shrine and Mizuharai Shrine, which are among its distinctive features.
During the spring to summer period, the park showcases a refreshing green broadleaf forest. Early May is the best time to view the wild "Musashino Kōsō" unique to Asama Mountain Park, providing a visual feast for visitors. "Musashino Kōsō" is a precious natural landscape that can only be seen locally and is highly cherished by the public.
The park also has rest areas where, on clear days, visitors can enjoy distant views of Mount Fuji, one of the "Kanto Fuji Hundred Views," while savoring leisurely moments in the surrounding greenery.
Highlights
The park has three mountain peaks and several shrines within it. You can observe wildlife such as birds and plants, as well as many wild grasses in the forest. On clear days, there are viewpoints where you can see Mount Fuji in the distance.
