Details

Atami Castle is a dazzling castle located at the top of Nishikigaoka Mountain in Atami City. In fact, it is not a historically existing castle but a composite tourist facility built in 1959. The castle has a five-story tenshu (main keep) and nine floors inside, constructed of reinforced concrete. Atami Castle stands 43 meters tall and is situated at an elevation of 160 meters, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of Atami City and the distant Izu Peninsula, with outstanding scenery visible from the top floor. Inside Atami Castle, there are many amusement facilities and various experiential activities. For example, visitors can play the popular Edo period riddle game "Nazo Nazo-e," where guessing correctly earns them original merchandise from the castle; they can dress in Edo period clothing for memorable photos to commemorate their trip to Atami; and they can relax in the foot bath area while enjoying views of the sea. Additionally, the "Atami Illusion Art Maze," which allows visitors to experience a wonderful world through visual illusions, is also a must-see attraction. Atami Castle is a great place where both adults and children can have fun, making it very suitable for family visits.
