About 3・6 Street
Enjoy Asahikawa cuisine on the second busiest street after Banno.
Details
Asahikawa's "3・6 Street" is the second largest bustling street in Hokkaido, second only to Sapporo's Susukino. Pronounced "san-roku-kai," the name originates from its location at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 6th Block in the center of Asahikawa, as well as from the "foothills" (山麓, sanroku) of Mount Daisetsu. The vibrant nightlife area is filled with nearly a thousand shops, exuding the charm of the Showa era with its retro streets and neon lights, creating a nostalgic atmosphere.
Asahikawa thrives as a logistics hub, bringing in a wealth of fresh seafood from three oceans, including the Sea of Okhotsk. Therefore, even though it is an inland area, one can enjoy delicious seafood. Additionally, Asahikawa is also known as "Kita no Naka" and is home to several sake breweries where one can taste locally brewed fine wines.
Moreover, Asahikawa is famous for its high standards in bartending, even earning the title of Cocktail City. 3・6 Street is close to the station, attracting many people who come to enjoy the pleasure of sipping drinks.
Highlights
As the second largest city in Hokkaido, it retains a strong Showa-era charm. You can enjoy fresh seafood sourced from the surrounding seas. Spend a wonderful evening with Asahikawa's proud local sake and cocktails.
