📝 Introduction
The Oze region in Gunma Prefecture is a winery modeled after Napa Valley in California, USA.
📖 Details
The Oligon Winery was established in 1991 in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, and began cultivating grapes in 2000 in Showa Village on the Akagi Plateau. The choice of the Akagi Plateau was due to its cooler temperatures, which are very suitable for winemaking. The winery makes full use of the vast land of the Akagi Plateau to develop large-scale vineyards, completing the entire process from grape cultivation to winemaking and aging independently. The vineyards, surrounded by fences, are scattered across the picturesque hillsides, creating a stunning view. The winery's dedication to producing high-quality wines is driven by a desire to give back to this beautiful and bountiful land. There is a restaurant on-site where visitors can enjoy lunch paired with the winery's homemade wines.
Additionally, guided tours of the winery led by the winemaker are offered. In addition to visiting the vineyards and wine cellars, tastings are provided. Guests can sample six varieties of European wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Beaune. This boutique winery, inspired by the vineyards of Napa Valley in California, allows visitors to indulge in creative local wines.
