About Cape Hado
Located at the northwesternmost tip of Kyushu, you can enjoy breathtaking views and delicious sea snails at this picturesque cape.
Details
Cape Bocho is a small promontory that juts out from the Higashimatsuura Peninsula, a well-known spot where you can feel the sea breeze on the grass while enjoying the views of the Genkai Sea. It is part of the vast "Genkai Quasi-National Park" in the northwest of Kyushu, where you can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, camping, and swimming.
The pier extending from Cape Bocho leads to an underwater observation tower. Standing on the sea-view platform, you can gaze out at the islands of the Genkai Sea and take in the magnificent ocean scenery. The observation tower extends 7 meters into the sea, and from its 24 underwater viewing windows, you can see around 30 species of fish, including black sea bream and neon damselfish, as well as seaweed and shellfish, offering a glimpse into the rich ecology of the Karatsu waters. The waters around Cape Bocho are a highlight for observing beautiful tropical fish due to the convergence of warm and cold currents.
After fully enjoying the views, head to the cape parking lot. Near the parking lot, there are many shops where you can taste the famous "Tsuboyaki Shellfish" from Cape Bocho, as well as indulge in freshly caught squid, abalone, and other seafood from Karatsu. Additionally, when visiting Cape Bocho, it is recommended to go during the evening at sunset. The atmosphere after the sun sets is incredibly romantic, making it a recognized "Sacred Place for Lovers" in Saga Prefecture.
