Details
"The Deer Boat" is known as a tourist hub in Nara, located in Nara City, and is a complex facility for sightseeing. The restaurant "Kamado," which offers a rice cooking experience, is located within "The Deer Boat." At this restaurant, you can enjoy Japanese home-cooked dishes made with local ingredients from Nara. "Kamado" has won hearts with its simple yet elegantly refined cuisine, and what particularly delights guests is the fragrant white rice cooked using a traditional Japanese stove, the kamado. The star of the restaurant, the kamado, is handcrafted by artisans from Uda City in Nara Prefecture. It is said that there are fewer and fewer artisans engaged in making kamados today. The rice cooking experience activity began about two years ago. The person in charge of guiding the experience is Ms. Hitomi Yamashita, a staff member at the restaurant. Before the activity starts, Ms. Yamashita will carefully explain the specific steps for cooking rice to all participating guests.
