🗺️ Daoshi Station, Yawata Elementary School道の駅 保田小学校

Located in Chiba Prefecture, the former "Machiritsu Boyata Elementary School," which closed in 2014, has been transformed and repurposed. Under the concept of "Protecting, Nurturing, and Inheriting the Satoyama Plaza," it has been reimagined as a roadside rest station offering accommodation services. The facility includes lodging options, featuring various room types such as suites that can accommodate two or more guests, as well as large rooms suitable for group travelers. Upon opening the guest room door, a large blackboard comes into view. Additionally, instead of a traditional living room coffee table, there are children's desks and chairs. The storage racks used for backpacks and the fluorescent lighting fixtures have been preserved in their original state. One can still sense the atmosphere reminiscent of its past as a school, evoking a nostalgic feeling. The accommodation facilities are also well-equipped, providing Japanese-style futons based on room type, along with televisions and refrigerators. For lunch upon check-in, guests can choose from four restaurants popular among tourists. The most favored is the "Satoyama Shokudo" located on the first floor of the old school building. Here, in addition to Japanese set meals, retro-style nutritious lunches are served on anodized aluminum tableware. Furthermore, the gymnasium has been renovated into "Kyonan Rakuen." It offers a wide variety of products, including original items that can only be purchased here, as well as local seafood processed goods, souvenirs, and cut flowers.

The accommodation facility has been renovated from the old school building of the local elementary school. It retains elements like blackboards and desks, creating a nostalgic atmosphere throughout. There are four restaurants operating on the premises, including a cafeteria that provides nutritious lunches. The gymnasium has been repurposed as a local market.
