"Dogo Onsen" is mentioned in the "Nihon Shoki" (Chronicles of Japan) and is said to be the oldest hot spring in Japan, as well as a popular tourist destination representing Ehime Prefecture. According to legend, a white heron with an injured leg was healed at Dogo Onsen. The alkaline spring water has gentle components that do not irritate the skin, making it highly suitable for therapy and beauty treatments.
The "Dogo Onsen Honkan," boasting a proud history of 3,000 years, is a landmark of Dogo Onsen. This public bathhouse is a magnificent building filled with historical ambiance and has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. To preserve the building in its original condition, a preservation and renovation project began in 2019, with operations and repairs taking place simultaneously, and it is scheduled to reopen on July 11, 2024. In addition to the introduction of two new private bath facilities, exquisite bathing tickets designed by the famous illustrator Yuji Sugikawa have been launched, which have garnered significant attention since the reopening.

Hours / Holidays
