About Edogawa Ward Natural Zoo
A free natural zoo where you can have close contact with small animals.
Details
Located in the recreational area of Edogawa Ward, "Gyosen Park" features a free-entry natural zoo. The zoo is home to about 630 animals of approximately 53 species, including raccoons, Eurasian eagle-owls, Japanese squirrels, and wallabies, all living freely in the park.
You can also observe rare animals such as the brown spider monkey, which is not commonly kept in Japan, and the anteater, which is difficult to breed. The adorable prairie dogs, which won first place in the first election of the natural zoo, are particularly worth seeing as they dig in the dirt and get all muddy.
The "Interaction Square," where visitors can touch sheep and small animals, is very popular among tourists. The gentle little animals show a relaxed expression while being petted, which is quite soothing. Additionally, original merchandise designed with animals, such as pins and magnets, is also very well-received. Pins are priced at 100 yen, magnets at 120 yen, and small handkerchiefs at 350 yen, making them easy for children to purchase with their pocket money.
