The Osaka Monorail opened in 1990. The彩都線 (Saito Line), which began operation in 1998, runs from 万博紀念公園 (Expo '70 Commemorative Park) to 阪大病院前 (Handai Byoin-mae), and at that time, it was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest monorail in the world. As of 2023, it still holds the record for the second longest monorail in the world.
The main station, 万博紀念公園站 (Expo '70 Commemorative Park Station), was selected as one of the "First Kinki Station 100 Selection" (a vote for the 100 most distinctive railway stations in the Kinki region) and is nicknamed "Station of the Sun." From the large glass windows in the hall, one can see the switch tracks in action, with trains departing in different directions.
