🍜 Factory Site Office

📝 Introduction

A vintage-style old factory café.

📖 Details

The "Factory Office" is a wooden building located near the west side of Todai-ji. In the early days, research and production of "Futorumin" lactic acid drinks were conducted here. It closed in 1980, and 30 years later, in 2009, the great-grandson of the founder partially renovated the office into a café. The building was registered as a cultural property in 2020. The interior is decorated with glass bottles, test tubes, and research institute signs from "Futorumin," creating a nostalgic factory atmosphere. Here, you can enjoy original specialty coffee, dishes infused with Yamato tea (which is said to originate from tea seeds brought back by Kobo Daishi), and plum soda made from local green plums from Kishu-Kuwana City in Wakayama Prefecture and Nara.

⭐ Highlights

Reservations in advance are required to visit the old factory site (this includes a breakfast tour).
