Huajuan Hot Spring Village is the largest hot spring area in Northeast China, featuring 12 unique types of hot springs.
Details
Hanamaki Onsen Town is located in the western part of Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, along the banks of the Tai River and Toyozawa River that flow through the serene mountains. It consists of 12 hot springs, including Hanamaki Onsen, Tai Onsen, and Osawa Onsen, which is why it is known as "Hanamaki 12 Springs." All the hot springs have a long history, with sources believed to have been discovered 300 to 400 years ago.
There are various types of accommodations available, including traditional ryokan inns suitable for families or couples, as well as hotels that cater to those seeking personal privacy with rooms that have their own hot spring baths. The ability to choose based on your travel purpose is a major feature. The quality of the spring water also varies, allowing visitors to select based on their personal preferences for hot springs.
Traveling from Tokyo to Hanamaki takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes by the Tohoku Shinkansen, making it very convenient. It is recommended to take the free shuttle bus provided for guests from either "Shin-Hanamaki" Station or "Hanamaki" Station to reach the accommodations.
