The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum primarily displays exhibits and various materials related to dinosaurs and is the largest museum of its kind in Japan. During a series of archaeological excavations, fossils such as teeth, bones, and footprints of various vertebrates, including dinosaurs, were discovered in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture, leading to the establishment of this dinosaur-themed museum in 2000. Since its opening, it has attracted over 900,000 visitors each year. The museum features a silver domed building, consisting of three exhibition areas: "World of Dinosaurs," "Earth Science," and "History of Life." The most impressive area is the "World of Dinosaurs," which showcases 50 lifelike dinosaur skeleton models in a massive column-free space measuring 84 meters in length, 55 meters in width, and 37.5 meters in height. The museum also displays over 1,000 exquisite fossil specimens, large three-dimensional perspective models, and various dinosaur-themed multimedia presentations. Visitors can also take a dedicated museum bus to the outdoor Dinosaur Museum, where they can closely observe dinosaur fossil excavation sites and participate in fun activities such as hammering stones and experiencing dinosaur fossil excavation using stones brought from the excavation site.
