🍜 Geisha Coffee Bar Series

Arima Onsen is the only area in Hyogo Prefecture that retains the geisha culture. This is a café bar that has transformed the first floor of the local geisha office, "Arima Kenban," into a venue with a permanent stage, allowing visitors to easily experience one of Japan's traditional performing arts, the geisha dance and zashiki-asobi (traditional parlor games). In 2021, the geisha culture of Arima Onsen was designated as a historical heritage of Kobe City. There are also resident geishas who perform dances accompanied by shamisen and nagauta (long songs). Dance performances are only held on Saturdays and Sundays, so it is recommended to check in advance before visiting. All staff at the café are active geishas, who serve guests while wearing white make-up and kimono. Here, you can enjoy carefully selected wagashi (Japanese sweets) and matcha sets (limited availability), experiencing precious moments of interaction with the geishas. Additionally, when booking the venue, you can also enjoy playing zashiki-asobi with the geishas. In the evening, the venue operates on a reservation basis, offering a "Geisha Bar" with unlimited drinks for 90 minutes.

You can experience the geisha culture, which is listed as a historical heritage of Kobe City, at the café. Geisha dance performances are held only on Saturdays and Sundays (12:00 - 14:00), so please confirm in advance before your visit. Geishas personally welcome guests. When the venue is reserved, you can also play traditional sitting games with the geishas. Reservations are required for the evening.
