About Gifu World Rose Garden (Flower Expo Memorial Park)
The largest rose garden in the world has everything from the latest varieties to ancient rose series.
Details
The Gifu World Rose Garden boasts the largest variety of rose species in the world. It features everything from ancient varieties of old roses to the latest breeds from Japan and abroad. In addition to its proud collection of roses, the expansive garden, covering approximately 800,000 square meters, is also home to a variety of seasonal flowers and plants.
Within the park, there is a "Tower of Flowers" that stands about 45 meters tall, offering panoramic views of the surrounding scenery from its summit. Facilities include a park train called "PO-PO," as well as Gifu Prefecture's largest outdoor playground and a water park (open only in summer). Additionally, various exhibitions related to the famous Sengoku general Akechi Mitsuhide, who hailed from "Mino Province" (now the southern part of Gifu Prefecture), are frequently held at the "Flower Museum."
One of the most recommended photography spots in the Gifu World Rose Garden is the "Welcome Garden," which is filled with blooming roses. There is also the "Flower Earth Hall," a large greenhouse where colorful flowers and green plants can be seen throughout the year. Whether you're looking to take a warm family photo or a romantic couple's shot, the various attractions within the Gifu World Rose Garden can meet all your photography needs.
Moreover, the park features a café surrounded by a sea of roses, where visitors can relax while enjoying the flowers. There is also a flower shop offering a variety of floral and plant-related products.
Highlights
The largest rose garden in the world features over 6,000 varieties of roses. The main blooming seasons are spring and autumn, when the roses compete to bloom, but visitors can also enjoy various seasonal flowers throughout the year. There are many photo spots in the garden where you can take commemorative pictures against a backdrop of a sea of roses. After a tiring walk in the garden, you can relax and dine at the on-site café and restaurant.
