About Gion Nishikawa
Experience the ultimate enjoyment of the new 京懷石 (Jing Huai Shi) cuisine.
Details
Quietly standing in the small alley of Kawaramachi leading to Yasaka Shrine is the renowned kaiseki restaurant "Gion Nishikawa (にしかわ)." The chef, Masayoshi Nishikawa, honed his culinary skills at famous establishments in Kyoto before starting his own business at the age of 33, and a year later, he received a star rating. Nishikawa's cuisine emphasizes seasonal characteristics, not only being luxurious and exquisite but also possessing depth and quality. Following the spirit of traditional Japanese cuisine, he skillfully incorporates Western ingredients and techniques to create unique dishes that are distinctly Nishikawa.
For dinner, there are only two options: the "Chef's Creative Course" and a lighter version of the same dishes called "Chef's Creative Light Course." During lunch, there is the "Lunch Kaiseki," allowing guests to easily experience the world of Nishikawa's cuisine.
The restaurant pays great attention to Japan's ancient seasonal changes, considering details such as seasonality, flavor, and appropriate temperatures. Even the choice of tableware and the interior decor are thoughtfully curated, earning it the nickname "Nishikawa Theater." Within the sukiya-style establishment, rich in Japanese essence, guests can leisurely enjoy an extraordinary moment.
