About Hakone Glass no Mori Museum (Hakone Glass Forest Museum)
Relax your mind and immerse yourself in the distant past of Venice, the specialized art museum of Venetian glass.
Details
The Hakone Glass no Mori Museum, located in Hakone Sengokuhara, is a specialized museum dedicated to Venetian glass. In addition to the "Venetian Glass Museum," "Modern Glass Museum," and "Glass Experience Workshop," it also features a garden with a view of the Owakudani Valley, a café, a restaurant, and a museum shop.
At the Venetian Glass Museum, you can find pieces from the golden age of Venetian glass, including the "Pointillist Pattern Covered Goblet" and the "Lace Glass Covered Goblet," which reflect the Art Nouveau movement and are significant in the history of glass craftsmanship. A highlight is the "Goblet Blowing in the Wind" created by Giuseppe Barovier. There are also collections from Egidio Costantini, who collaborated with 20th-century artists to create a new category of glass sculpture, allowing visitors to appreciate the history of Venetian glass through various series.
In the Modern Glass Museum, you can admire the elegantly styled blown glass sculptures by modern glass artist Livio Seguso, as well as the vibrant glass space art created by American glass artist Dale Chihuly. Additionally, after being inspired by the creative works, you can challenge yourself to create your own piece at the "Glass Experience Workshop."
