Located directly in front of the Gora Station of the Hakone Tozan Railway, this long-established tofu shop supplies breakfast tofu to many hotels and inns in Hakone. On holidays, there is often a long line outside the shop, making it a well-loved establishment among locals. Every morning at 4:30 AM, they prepare their signature "SYAKURI Tofu," which is freshly made tofu that has not yet been drained of its water before taking on a square shape. After customers place their orders, the tofu is served using a round ladle (with "SYAKURI" meaning to scoop). The soft tofu, just set and slightly warm, has a tender and smooth texture. The first bite is enjoyed without any seasoning, allowing you to taste the natural sweetness and aroma of the soybeans, and then you can add the soy sauce provided by the shop. Due to the potential loss of the soybeans' original flavor over time, takeout is not offered for this fresh tofu. They do sell takeout options such as momen tofu, silken tofu, fried tofu skin, and oil tofu. It often sells out before noon, so please pay special attention before your visit.
