About Hino Tonton Zoo (Hamura City Zoo)
A municipal zoo where you can see about 70 species of animals.
Details
Established in 1978, it is the first animal park operated by a town government in the country. Although the park is small in size, it houses about 70 species of animals, and the feeding activities and interactive areas are especially popular among children. The exhibition methods are quite creative, with a "Fairy Tale Paradise" themed exhibition set up at 10 locations within the park. Visitors can observe animals while exploring exhibitions based on famous fairy tales such as "The White Crane's Gratitude" and "Puss in Boots."
Upon entering the park, the entrance features homes for animals like meerkats, ring-tailed lemurs, and armadillos. Continuing forward, visitors arrive at the "Savannah Area," which is home to some of the most popular animals, including reticulated giraffes, Grant's zebras, and scimitar-horned oryx.
In the "Good Friends Zoo," where visitors can interact with animals, one can see adorable creatures such as donkeys, sheep, and capybaras. Additionally, in areas like the penguin zone, monkey mountain, and bird area, different animals can be seen, making the park small but enjoyable for visitors.
